A Taxing Meeting For The Giftware Association

Earlier this week, The Giftware Association’s Sarah Ward attended a Genesis Initiative meeting at the Bank of England where she put forward the views of members about the intentions that UK SMEs have in spending or investing their capital.

The meeting focused on making tax digital, which will impact on the home and giftware industry among other sectors. The programme will involve all but the smallest businesses in self-managing their tax affairs using appropriate software. The scheme is set to begin in April 2019.

“It’s amazing to be a part of these talks and these meetings as we really want to represent the industry that we serve and having stronger ties to government,” commented The Giftware Association’s ceo Sarah Ward. “We feel really privileged to be a part of this historic decision and how it will affect our industry and our members.”

The Genesis Initiative was formed to improve the quality of the debate on SME’s in the UK and Europe and to create economic reform, driven by SMEs and supported by Parliamentarians.

The Initiative’s latest research report ‘Brexit – Defending financial service in the SME sector’, looks at the post Brexit challenges to 350,000 UK financial services SMEs, authorised by the Genesis Financial Services Working Party, led by Dr David Doyle.
