Festive Shop Trail Led By Local Gift Retailer

For the second consecutive year, Bewdley’s independent retailers created a Festive Shop Trail to encourage people to ‘shop local’.

With just five days left to the closing date (December 22), visitors to the town have been able to pick up entry forms throughout December from any of the 30 shops taking part, where they are being asked to match one of the Christmas songs shown on a list provided with the shop. All correct matches will be entered into a draw to win one of three prizes donated by the shops involved. Winners will be announced on the Shop, Eat, Sleep Bewdley Facebook page this Saturday (December 22).

“Bewdley attracts thousands of visitors over the Christmas period, so our challenge as retailers has been to ensure that visitors explore the whole town and not just the riverside,” explains Greats Awards 2018 winner Jon May, co-owner of mooch gifts & home, who created the trail last year.

Guess the Christmas Song is just one of the initiatives launched by the newly created Bewdley Traders Group to help drive business to the high street and encourage people to ‘Shop Local and Shop Small’, to help save their local shops.

On Small Business Saturday (December 1) the group requested two hours free parking across all Wyre Forest District Council (WFDC) car parks in the town.
