Bring On Brazil

There will be a new take on design at Ambiente next year. Having phased out its Partner Country initiative after eight years, (the UK took part in 2017), show organisers Messe Frankfurt has revealed that there will be the launch of a new sector  – Focus On Design – featuring outstanding products with detailed insights into recent design highlights from a specially selected country.

“In 2020, Ambiente will start with Brazil, a young designer nation that has been developing quite rapidly creating very modernistic design,” explained Yvonne Engelmann, Ambiente’s director of Living and Giving.  “Five different Brazilian design studios – Bianca Barbato, Brunno Jahara, Rodrigo Almeida, RAIN (Marianne Ramos and Ricardo Inneco) and Sergio J. Matos – each with its own special identity, will be showcasing their creative output at Galleria 1 opposite the Trends area. In addition, several young Brazilian designers will also exhibit in the Talents areas of the show, where they will present unique handmade items and limited series.”

Speaking specifically about Ambiente’s Giving sector, Yvonne confirmed that giftware would spotlight “gift items that appeal to the emotions, ranging from home accessories to jewellery and stationery, as well as personal accessories and leatherware.

* Enesco, Ashleigh & Burwood, Rex London and Jellycat are among the gift suppliers exhibiting in 2020.

* Ambiente takes place at Messe Frankfurt from 7-11 February, 2020.
