Light & Living (Lightmakers B.V.) of the Netherlands is the new owner of Parlane International which went into administration on May 7. The sale of the business and its assets was completed by joint administrators Guy Hollander and Adam Harris of Mazars.
“We have gone through an extensive, highly competitive sale process and are very pleased that this culminated in a sale of the business, preserving the jobs of the 13 staff and enabling the Parlane brand to continue, particularly in the current economic climate,” stated Guy Hollander. “I would like to thank the staff for their assistance, without which this sale would not have been possible.”
Parlane’s range of exclusively designed and sourced products, along with the company’s long history of offering handcrafted, traditionally-produced lifestyle/home accessories, will complement the collections offered by Light & Living.
Prior to entering administration, the company, which celebrated its 50th anniversary at Spring Fair earlier this year, made 11 of its 24 staff redundant.
Based in Bourton-on-the-Water, Parlane was founded by John Rutter in 1970 as a pioneering recycled glassware company, with Mike Burgess, a former customer, becoming its managing director before buying the company in 2008. At the beginning of 2019, the company was purchased by the holding company that also owns Gallery Direct.
Parlane has two showrooms in the UK and an office in Hong Kong.
