Celebrating Sisterly Love

Enesco has unveiled a new keepsake box joining the Willow Tree family, depicting the special bond between sisters and close friends. Inspired by the brand’s top-selling Sister Mine figurine, the Sister Mine keepsake box features the same female forms as its figurine counterpart.

Talking about where her inspiration came from, artist Susan Lordi explains: “I have two little granddaughters, and one minute they’re squabbling over a toy, or jostling for attention, and the next minute they’re hugging and kissing each other. It’s a constant back and forth of friend and foe.”

Continues Susan: “I’m watching them forge a relationship that will last all their lives. I hope my granddaughters develop the closeness that I’ve always enjoyed with my two sisters. There’s nothing like the love of a sister. It grows out of a shared history of funny, stormy, trying, joyful experiences, creating the foundation on which strong relationships are built.”

Sized as a place to keep treasures, special items of jewellery, keys, notes or other tokens of affection, there’s a heartfelt sentiment inside the box which reads ‘Nothing comes close to the closeness of sisters’.

As with all Willow Tree figurines, Susan hand carves the original figure from her studio in Kansas City in Missouri.  The pieces are then cast from her original carvings, with Willow Tree figurines communicating their expression through gesture only, leaving them open to individual interpretation.
