The Puppet Company Teams Up With Save The Children

Family-run puppet and soft toy business The Puppet Company has teamed up with international children’s charity Save the Children for its annual Christmas Jumper Day campaign. Launching an exclusive selection of Christmas Jumper Bear & Friends puppets, the company will be helping to raise much needed funds for Save the Children’s vital work in the UK and around the world.

“Helping children is at the heart of everything we do and we are passionate about creating joyous, educational, and eco-friendly puppets and soft toys for both children and adults to enjoy all over the world,” states  director and co-founder of The Puppet Company and Wilberry Toys, Sue Lockey. “Our Christmas Jumper Day Bear & Friends are now a key part of our puppet family as we work together with Save the Children to improve the lives of children. Our charitable work is an integral part of who we are, and we are thrilled to be working with this amazing charity to support the incredible work they do. We believe that all children deserve comfort and joy, especially at this time of year, and are doing what we can to raise awareness and funds to help.”

The special eco collection of Christmas Jumper Bear & Friends puppets wear exclusive Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day festive tops, made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. The Puppet Company will donate £1 from the sale of every Christmas Jumper Bear & Friends puppet (RRP £12.50) and £1 from every specially selected Christmas Collection of puppets and soft toys to Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, which has raised over £35million since 2012.  All funds raised will help some of the most disadvantaged children across the world, including the UK, get access to food, healthcare and education.

The Christmas Jumper Bear & Friends puppets are part of the company’s Eco Walking Puppet collection – cuddly puppets made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, with access into both the arms and legs so that users can make them walk, run, dance and more.

With a Bear puppet as the central character, Bear’s Friends include a dog, cat, unicorn, crocodile, elephant and lion as a fun collection with appeal to children of all ages.  Each has a special removable Christmas top, which is also made from recycled plastic bottles, featuring the Save the Children logo on the back and which can be taken off after Christmas so that they can be enjoyed all year round and re-used each year.

To further help to raise funds, The Puppet Company and its sister company, Wilberry Toys, have also created a specially selected Christmas collection of puppets and soft toys for stocking fillers and gifts, with £1.00 from each item being donated to the charity. Products include Father Christmas, snowmen and reindeers through to dolls, unicorns, penguins and more.

“We are thrilled to partner with The Puppet Company and Wilberry Toys for this year’s Christmas Jumper Day campaign,” comments Save the Children’s Faye Waters, senior fundraising and engagement manager. “The money raised from the sale of the company’s festive puppets and soft toys will go a long way to helping us to improve the lives of children in the UK and around the world. Together we can help every child get the chance of a future they deserve.”

Now in its 22nd year, The Puppet Company is a key player in the gift and toy world, striking a balance between being a family-run, values-led business and a global market leader. The company’s passion for early years education and sustainable, creative play has enabled its collaboration with Save the Children and marks the start of a wider partnership, with The Puppet Company looking to discuss further ways to support the charity through the power of puppets.
