Gift Retailer Wins Talking Tables Display Competition

As winner of the recent Talking Tables display competition, winner Lucy Eason, owner of gift, homewares and card store George’s in Whitstable, received her prize of a visit by visual merchandising expert Debbie Flowerday last month. Debbie helped to create two of Lucy’s six festive windows, as well as offering her some practical tips for building eye-catching displays.

The store stocks a huge array of gifts, including a mix of Talking Tables games and paper tableware and decorations. “It’s all about shape and using the height,” explained Debbie, who also incorporated ribbon and bows into the displays to convey gifting,

Opened 50 years ago, George’s, which enjoys a mix of local and tourist custom, has been in the family for three generations. It was established by Lucy’s grandfather, with Lucy working there as a young teenager. Around 16 years ago, Lucy and her husband became the owners of the business.

Commented Talking Tables’ head of brand development, Jo Jeffery: “We are committed to supporting our independent stockists with a programme of marketing services, including prizes for Instagram giveaways, in-store merchandising materials, and display competitions. Now we’re look forward to our next collaboration.”
