Founder and ceo Jane Wallace-Jones began Something Different in the early 1990s. With a keen eye for giftware and a passion for great service, Jane started selling goods at a local car boot sale before moving on to the world of daily markets, occupying units in several locations across South Wales.

Jane subsequently developed an interest in becoming a wholesaler, and in 1999, she took on a 5,000 square foot warehouse. She bought stock in bulk from other importers and manufacturers, held it in the warehouse and used it to supply her chain of market stalls. The Something Different website was also launched in 1999, being the first ecommerce business in its field. It was an overnight success, and the business began to experience rapid growth.

Today, the company is recognised as one of the largest giftware suppliers and importers in the UK, stocking over 3,000 products in multiple warehouses and supplying over 25,000 customers worldwide.

The company’s in-house creative team design 80% of the products and a team of buyers work closely with their trusted supply chain to bring retailers unique products at the most competitive prices.

Something Different has achieved a lot over the years including expanding their warehouse space, employing 81 members of staff, launching a dropship website, improving the company’s sustainability efforts, offering 7-day dispatch and much more.
