At The Heart Of Art

The National Gallery has collaborated with De Montfort University to launch an illustration competition, with 16 students given the opportunity to create graphics and illustration that can be used on a new product range which will be part of the National Gallery gift shop offering.

“The National Gallery Company are delighted to be working with the Graphics and Illustration students from De Montfort University. We’re sure that their enthusiasm for the project and fresh approach will lead to some original and commercial designs,” says Alice Brook, home and gift buyer at the National Gallery Company.  The graphics and illustration undergraduates have been tasked with producing five designs each.

Nick Mobbs, senior lecturer at De Montfort University adds: “The students are really excited to be working on a live brief with the National Gallery Company to produce designs inspired by the Gallery and its collection for use on a range of merchandise.”

The winner and runner-up designs will be announced at the beginning of December.
