Although the majority of non-essential retailers will be re-opening their shops on June 15, Mooch Gifts & Home, which has stores in Bewdley and Stourport on Severn, is getting ready to welcome customers on June 10 – the day before Mooch’s fifth anniversary.
Explaining why Mooch will be opening ahead of the official re-opening date, co-owner Jon May points out that both stores sell over 50% homewares.
“We have prepared a video to tell our customers not only what we have been up to but to provide valuable information for when they return to our stores,” he told GiftsandHome.net. “The video went ‘live’ on Facebook at 3pm on Monday (June 1) and received well over 1000 views in less than 24 hours.”
To celebrate Mooch’s fifth anniversary, there will be a birthday competition and offer for customers. “The offer will be online only so as not to overwhelm our stores,” Jon confirmed.
During lockdown, and making full use of the marketing opportunities offered by social media, Mooch put together a series of sell-out Mystery Bags for customers, ran competitions and promotions, supported the NHS and introduced new products, which included children’s activity giftware and paint for upcyclers and DIYers.
Jon was also interviewed by ITV News Central, and appeared in a video fanfaring the importance of greeting cards during lockdown, created and put together by Lanther Black.
