Commemorating The New Royal Baby

As excitement mounts in the run up to the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby this month, two Stoke on Trent companies have been fast off the mark with commemorative mugs to celebrate the Royal event.

“The commemorative business has become increasingly important to Dunoon over the years, especially where the British Royal Family are concerned,” comments Dunoon’s sales director Peter Smith.

“We are therefore ready to produce a commemorative mug for the forthcoming arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby, with a blue version if it’s a boy and a pink version if it’s a girl, both with lots of gold ornate detailing.  Images of our mock-up mugs have been shown or sent to our key commemorative customers and orders are already on the books,” Peter confirms. “Being a UK manufacturer, and having our own lithos printing facility, we can react very quickly and have the mug into production soon after the birth. All we need is the baby’s name!”

Sophie Allport too, is among the first tableware companies to launch a fine bone china mug to commemorate the Royal birth, with the design giving a nod to the baby’s British and American heritage.

Sporting a red, white and blue theme, the design features teddies holding Union Jack and United States of America flags, with tiny footprints, Union Jack love hearts and bunting flags also running around the mug design.

“I’m such a fan of the Royal family and really wanted to design a lovely keepsake for people to treasure,” explains Sophie. “Prince Harry and Meghan are such a popular couple and I think both nations are really excited for them.”

Once the birth is officially announced, along with the baby’s full name, Sophie’s mugs will be personalised by hand in Stoke on Trent. The full name and date of birth will be handwritten by Sophie and then hand applied on the inside rim of every mug. The mugs will then be fired and boxed ready to be delivered to customers.

The new Royal Baby mug complements the other Royal mugs in the Sophie Allport commemorative collection.
