With mental health issues very much to the fore this year, Lesley Dunne, owner of Greats award winning gift shop Feathering Your Nest in Rayleigh, was determined to make a difference this Christmas.
“Feathering Your Nest is lucky to have a double front, with huge windows, so while one of windows has a traditional fanfare of girlie gifts with lots of pink, the other window features a take a #selfie but with a message for being kind and for mental health issues,” Lesley told GiftsandHome.net
So far, the angel wings window has not only attracted the attention of passersby, but the media too. “We had a fabulous full page feature in our local paper The Echo, and I was also interviewed on BBC Essex Radio,” confirmed Lesley.
“I picked up on an idea I saw on Instagram from another shop last Spring and tailored it to our message,” she continued. “The angel wings are stunning and are really catching everyone’s attention. We’ve used lots of hashtags in the hope that people will remember to be kind this Christmas, and every day, in considering what someone else might be going through.”
Continued Lesley: “I desperately wanted to do something close to my heart, and mental health is very much a part of our lives, as most of us know someone who has suffered in some way at one point or another. So we have added a donate button for the Samaritans charity and written their number on our window.”
