Greats Winners On Cloud Nine

Having been crowned the winners of The Greats on Wednesday (May 15) at London’s glitzy Grosvenor House, there’s been a fantastic reaction from Greats award recipients.

“We are still buzzing and over the moon at our success!” exclaimed Louise Rolfe, owner of The Present in Barnet. “We are so touched and grateful, with the team planning a night out to celebrate!’

At Joco Interiors in Nuneaton, owner Jo Williams told GiftsandHome.net: “We had an amazing day from start to finish. I was filming the finalists being announced and when my name was called out I was in utter shock, threw my phone to my mum and nervously made my way to the stage. Now I can’t stop smiling. I’ve received countless messages and our social media lit up throughout the night with amazing comments.”

Up in Scotland, the owner of Spirito in Glasgow, Denise Laird, enthused: “It is such a fantastic honour to be the winner of The Greats 2019 Independent Gift Retailer of the Year – Scotland category. First thing yesterday morning (Thursday May 16), I took the award down to the shop to show it off, and the staff and our customers were absolutely thrilled that we’d won. It’s taken pride of place for everyone to see and enjoy. Without them it would have never been possible.”

“We were grinning all the way home,” admitted Mark Ellis, head of visitor experience at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, winners of the Best Museums or Visitor Attraction Gift Shop category. “I think there was a moment of disbelief when we heard our name called out at the awards ceremony, but this was soon replaced with a sense of pride that we had been recognised in such a manner by those within our own industry.  We are delighted to have won the award and will use this to inspire us to even greater performance in the future”.

Also ecstatic were the team from Joe Davies, which won the Best Service to the Independent Retailer award. “Our success this year is particularly special as we are celebrating our 100th year of serving the independent retailer, and for our customers to vote for us in this way makes everyone at Joe Davies feel incredibly proud.”
