In My Opinion: “Essential Retail Must Include Shops Which Sell Masks And Sanitiser”

Thomas O’Brien, managing director of Boxer Gifts, has issued a rallying cry to trade associations to get behind their retailers selling masks and hand sanitiser to help keep them open.

“There needs to be some pressure from every side to the government to help keep our retailers open or many will close forever if they lose their Christmas trading,” he told GiftsandHome.net.

“Essential retail must include shops which sell masks and sanitiser -which are a legal requirement in many places,” he stated. “The Giftware Association, British Jewellery & Giftware International and other trade associations must support their retailers by confirming that government lockdown rules allow this.

This time of year is a lifeline to many businesses already badly hit by restrictions.”

Adds Thomas: “It’s time to do what we can for our industry’s very survival. Stores have already adapted to be one of the safest places to be. Without our independent retailers our high street is a poorer place.”
