Last Friday (30 August), some 50 customers toasted the publication of Gift Giving Genius, a colourful, 300 page gift planner for gift givers, written and designed by Jo Williams, owner of multi-award winning gift shop Joco in Nuneaton. The book launch took place in the shop, with the bubbles flowing as Jo celebrated her first venture into the world of publishing.
“The book was launched on Amazon a couple of weeks ago and hit the top 5,” Jo told GiftsandHome.net. “Although it has dropped down the charts, it’s like a perpetual calendar, and because it isn’t seasonal, hopefully it will be an all year round best seller,” she adds. “People are buying it as a gift and also as a self purchase.
“I wrote and designed it and feel very proud that there’s been such a great response. It’s colouring book too, aimed at relieving stress, with something to colour in – such as a flower – on every page.”

Jo was inspired to design the journal planner after speaking with the founder of ‘I Am Claire Clarke’, at an online networking event. “The concept came to me as I worked on ideas as to how this could fit in alongside the gift shop,” Jo explained. “I looked on Amazon and couldn’t find anything that really helped with gift giving, other than standard perpetual birthday calendars. I wanted this to be so much more.”
Her book not only allows the gift giver to record the dates of all special occasions, but also has a large amount of space within the ‘All About ‘sections, where users can also record information about each person they buy for and add photos.
“As with any journal, the more information that’s added, the easier the gift giving decisions will become,” points out Jo, who has dedicated the book to her dad, who sadly and unexpectedly passed away earlier this year. “He supported me from the initial idea and it’s sad that he didn’t get to see the final printed version,” she comments.
