John Lewis’ New Cheltenham Store Gets Ready To Open Its Doors

In a bid to up the retail ante, John Lewis’s new Cheltenham store will be offering locals their very own space, The Discovery Room, to do whatever they like with.

“It’s a blank canvas and we’re looking for ideas and for people to approach us,” store manager Martin Bundy told Heart Radio. The space will be allocated to community groups, charities and local businesses.

Martin added that although Cheltenham has a really busy high street, it’s not only a retail destination. “We want to work in partnership with festivals and the local community too,” he told the radio station.

The new store, which opens on October 18, has seen John Lewis invest £23m. It has been an ongoing project for almost five years and was originally scheduled to open last year.

Homewares will be located on the second floor.
