On Their Bikes For Charity

Proving that pedal power can raise significant £pounds for charity, David Gee, managing director of The Music Gifts Company, and general manager Jason Lovell, successfully cycled the Isle of Wight Randonnee earlier this month – a hilly 64.2 mile cycle around the island – in aid of Kidney Cancer UK. So far, the two men have raised more than £2000 for the charity.

Jason, who has been with the company for some 15 years, had his right kidney removed in July 2016 due to a cancerous tumour. “He was off work for around two months to recuperate, and since then, thankfully, has grown stronger and is fighting fit,” confirms David. “This March, he bought a road bike and set his goal to ride the Isle of Wight Randonnee . He gave himself just six weeks’ training and asked me to join him.”

Over 3000 cyclists took part on one of the hottest days at the beginning of May, creating a wonderful, friendly atmosphere. “None of the roads had been closed for the event and thankfully, most of the islanders were very accommodating,” points out David.
