‘Out Of The Ordinary’ Top Drawer Opens On Sunday

According to show organisers Clarion Events, Top Drawer – which opens its doors this Sunday, January 13 – will be continuing to “push boundaries and define trends, with the ‘out of the ordinary’ message reflecting the need to provide something unique,” states event director Alejandra Campos.

Taking place at London’s Olympia from January 13-15, the programme of RetailFest seminars, talks, panel discussions, interviews, practical masterclasses and clinics, will be featuring an impressive line-up of speakers. They include industry experts and influencers, such as Molly Park, head of home and gift design at Oliver Bonas, and Emily Dunstan, the buyer for Heals. Other speakers include House Curios’ Sommer Pyne, and Louise Healy-Adonis from Flamingo Global, who will be giving visitors a head start on next season’s colours and design trends.

Five key trends have been identified at the show, featuring Terracotta; Deep Dive; Stratosphere; Tactile Treasure and Neomint.

In addition, the winners and runners up of the PaperAwards SS19 have been announced, recognising the creativity and innovation of exhibitors. They are

  • Engaging Print: winner: Raspberry Blossom; runners up: Hotchpotch and Cambridge Imprint;
  • Emotive Design: winner:The Cardy Club; runners up: Maya Stepien by Lagom Design and Fossile By The Art File; and
  • Exciting Use of Colour: winner: Magic Numbers by Lagom Design; runners up: Dicky Bird and Meraki.

Visitors can see the winning and shortlisted designs, and meet the winners and finalists in person, at the PaperAwards SS19 showcase in the Greetings & Stationery area.

CRAFT meanwhile, now in its 9th edition, will again be returning to Top Drawer. The sector will be showcasing a selection of over 90 contemporary makers, from the UK and overseas, across ceramics and glass, fashion and textiles, jewellery and mixed media disciplines.

The SS19 edition of Top Drawer will be showcasing over 1500 brands. Show sectors include Gifts, Home, Greetings & Stationery, Fashion, Food Emporium, Play, Craft and Spotted.
