PG Live Welcomes Zandra Rhodes

With her bright pink hair, theatrical make-up and statement art jewellery, Zandra Rhodes has been stamping her identity on the international world of fashion for 50 years.

Now, PG Live visitors will be able to meet her in person on Wednesday June 5, between 10.30-11.30am, to witness another new venture for the prolific designer, when Museums & Galleries unveil Zandra’s first range of licensed gift stationery and greeting cards on stand 218.

“I’m so thrilled by the marvellous job the Museums & Galleries team has done in interpreting my designs onto the products and can’t wait to see it!” enthuses Zandra. “I love the idea of people going into a shop or a gallery all over the world and seeing the cards and stationery.”

Adds Ben Dorney, creative director at Museums & Galleries: “2019 marks 50 years in the fashion industry for Zandra, so it was a timely opportunity to contribute to the celebrations. To our surprise, we discovered that despite her many years as a textile and fashion designer, educator and bona fide national institution, Zandra has never really pursued licensing in any sizeable way. For Museums & Galleries, it offered two great opportunities: firstly, to collaborate with a world-renowned British fashion icon whose heritage and style would resonate strongly with our customers, and secondly, to expand our fashion-led offer and complement but not compete with our very successful Matthew Williamson and Cressida Bell collections.”

He continues: “Zandra’s ‘handwriting’ is completely unique, and adds a new dimension and colour palette to our wider collection. She represents British design at its best. Her work has a timeless energy and her freehand style and use of bright/neon colours completely fits within what’s happening now. I guess that’s the mark of a truly great designer, that their work continually feels relevant.”

PG Live takes place at London’s Business Design Centre on June 4 and 5. Visit www.progressivegreetingslive.com
