Several Rainbow decanters from Riedel, signed by Elton John, were a striking part of the glassware specialist’s stand at Ambiente in Frankfurt, which closed its doors last week.

The colourful decanters are limited to just 75, with an allocation of 10 at the show, were snapped up by UK buyers early on at the trade fair.

The decanters retail at £1,500 and all profits go to The Elton John AIDS Foundation. Riedel’s managing director Steve McGraw explained: “Creating this coloured crystal needs a highly experienced glassmaker with an incredible level of skill, as the craftsman has to blow glass in different colours.”

Riedel’s new launches included its new cocktail and spirits range, recognising the growth in the category. The range has been developed with a leading mixologist to create the optimum shapes and style for each drink.
