Scotland’s Trade Fair Spring, taking place from 19-21 January at the SEC Glasgow, is getting ready to welcome visitors this weekend, with Scottish retailers reporting a steady Christmas sales period and an overall rise in turnover in 2024.
Following a strong summer 2024 tourist season in Scotland, show organisers Springboard Events say that the independent retail sector is in good shape – and better than the rest of the UK (source: the British Retail Consortium) – with the show now sold out, and over 440 exhibitors ready to showcase their new launches.
“Scotland’s Trade Fair is perfectly positioned at the start of the 2025 buying season for retailers to get their orders in first and secure stock for the summer,” comments show director Mark Saunders. “The variety and quality of our exhibitors grows each year, and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors on Sunday January 19.”
There’s a strong line-up of gift suppliers, with companies recently booked in including Awnhill, Emily Victoria, Floss & Rock, Lochaven International, Zinc Home, Shearer Candles, Rebecca Pitcher, Daiglen of Scotland, Eastern Counties Leather, Pageant Pewter, Xystos Gift & Fragrance, Total Wardrobe Care and Puckator.
The Launch Gallery is predicted to be one of the first stops for many buyers, featuring innovative young suppliers such as Malmo Home, Lunabuloona, Woolkind, EARTH.er, Under Sky and Brilliantly Brave.
In addition, the show offers insightful business and retail advice in Talking Shop, featuring a line-up of experts. To see the programme CLICK HERE.
The programme includes talks and panel discussions exploring different aspects of retail. Included will be a keynote discussion on What’s On Scotland’s 2025 Horizon; a panel discussion on Sustainability – Shaping the Future of Supply Chains; a 1-to-1 keynote interview, chaired by Progressive Gifts & Home’s editor Sue Marks, on the success of farm shop Loch Leven’s Larder; a panel discussion on trends insights for 2025, chaired by Progressive Gifts & Home’s Editor Sue Marks; presentations on Understanding Your Customer and AI In Retail – The Future Of Shopping; practical retailing tips, and a panel discussion on Made in Scotland – What Does This Mean?
In addition, on 20 January and 21 January, there will be Nessie’s Den sessions across gifts, plus food and drink respectively.
The Best Product Awards have been elevated this year with more finalists selected and an awards ceremony at 5pm on Sunday 19 January at the show. Winners’ products will be displayed at the centre of the show, with each winner receiving free stand space for 2026.
