According to the Greeting Card Association, (GCA), an estimated 145m Valentine’s Day cards are sent out each year, so with February 14 on the horizon, and 38.2% of single people continuing to date during the pandemic, romance is in the air. So what’s trending on the gift front?
“It’s a scientific fact that smell has a stronger link to emotion than any of the other human senses,” says Wax Lyrical’s head of product Rachel Holmes, “so the right scent – such as jasmine, saffron, ginseng and patchouli – can make for a magical evening, while vanilla and sandalwood can help a loved one to relax and feel loved if it’s a family home.”
She continues: “Candles are used and enjoyed for a long time. They can represent traditional gifts such as roses, and can be fun or sophisticated.”
The company is currently featuring a Valentine’s guide on its website www.waxlyrical.com with Rachel pointing out that celebrating Valentines Day doesn’t have to mean spending a lot of money. “It’s about setting the scene and creating the right environment, with candles, of course, the ‘must haves’.”
