When the team from Best Kept Secrets heard the company’s name announced as the winner of the Gift of the Year’s Best Home Fragrance category at The Gift Awards (16 May), for their Just Because Three Lite Boxes, there were great whoops of joy and much cheering, as Vanessa, Paul and Madeleine Curry made their way to the stage to receive their trophy from Penny Shaw, managing director of Cardgains, sponsors of the category.
“This win is a tremendous honour and a testament to our dedicated team and the love and care we pour into every product,” enthused Best Kept Secrets’ managing director Vanessa Curry. “Being recognised alongside such esteemed brands is truly incredible.”
Vanessa, husband and director Paul Curry, and daughter Madeleine “who does it all”, according to Vanessa, brought nine members of staff down from Morpeth to attend the event in London, all dressed in matching pink hoodies with Best Kept Secrets name emblazoned on them.
“Every decision we make is with an eye toward environmental stewardship and community involvement,” Vanessa explained. “The Just Because Collection, central to the brand’s recent accolade, offers an affordable, heartfelt gifting solution for under £10. The collection includes the GOTY award-winning Three Lite Boxes, which feature colourful, recyclable vessels filled with the brand’s best-selling scents and adorned with messages for every occasion.”
Best Kept Secrets received nominations across multiple Gift of the Year categories in this year’s awards, including My Gift of All Time, and for their ethical and sustainable practices with the Our Fragrant World collectiondeveloped in collaboration with designer Nicky Dawson. It includes candles made from plant-based waxes, underscoring the brand’s innovative approach to sustainability.
Founded almost three decades ago, Best Kept Secrets operates from the company’s workshop in Morpeth.
