What’s Trending In . . . Fashion Accessories

Taking inspiration from the catwalks, fashion accessories this Autumn will be focusing on tassels, pom poms and faux fur, with plenty of deep purple around, and lots of gold. But that’s not all that we will be seeing on the shelves as some of the leading suppliers reveal.

“Autumn/Winter will see plenty of colour, texture, layers and pattern with our scarf and accessories range packed full of animal prints, bold designs, big knits, super-sized wraps, spirit lifting bright bags and lots of cosy detail,” says PoM’s director Chris Holden.

Highlighting the trend for faux fur is Katie Finegan, sales manager at Caroline Gardner. “We have launched a very soft faux fur clutch-cum-make-up bag in silver and pink. However, glitzy gold will be the key trend this winter with metallics still going strong,” confirms Katie.

According to Chloe Bayles, wholesale accounts manager at A Gift from The Gods, Autumn/Winter is going to be about colour, colour and more colour! “Taking inspiration from the catwalks and current trends, bright pops of colour are becoming prominent, not just in clothing but in accessories too,” says Chloe. “Our new tassel keyrings in multi-colours work as a statement keyring or as a bag charm accessory, plus our fashion accessories collection of purses fit into each of our design stories, combining both colour and metallic touches.”

Meanwhile, colourful patterns and prints will be leading the way at Miss Milly, with the company launching a capsule collection of bright tasselled ponchos.

At Joe Davies, the trend for metallic foil printing continues to feature strongly for the coming season.  “Our Equilibrium collection combines this with the celestial look to create star studded scarves and accessories,” comments buyer Mary Richards. “Faux fur will be another key trend for the second half of the year and is prominent within our bag, scarf and gloves collections.”
